Trump Campaign Rally in Iowa for Ashley Hinson
Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Iowa to help Ashley Hinson win a Senate seat. Hinson competes with Democrat Josh Turek in a very close race. High energy prices and trade problems hurt Iowa farmers. Hinson promised to support Trump when necessary but also promised to challenge his choices on Russia and war policies.
President Donald Trump planned a campaign rally in Iowa on Thursday. He went there to support Representative Ashley Hinson. She is running for an open seat in the U.S. Senate. Her main opponent is Democratic state Representative Josh Turek. This election became very close and competitive recently.
Iowa faces tough economic challenges right now. Energy prices went up significantly. Also, last year's trade conflict with China hurt local farmers because China stopped buying American soybeans. Because of these hard conditions, Republicans worry about their Senate majority.
Ashley Hinson worked in the House of Representatives since 2021. Before that, she was a news anchor. In early debates, Hinson said she will support Trump when it helps Iowa. However, she promised to challenge him when she disagrees. Recently, Hinson spoke to reporters and criticized Trump's decision to waive sanctions on Russia. She said the United States should not make more deals with Russia.
Hinson also discussed the war in Iran. She said the conflict must end immediately and successfully. Her opponent, Turek, attacked her past votes in Congress regarding war resolutions. But Hinson explained that she wants to protect American allies and prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. This Thursday visit marks Trump's second trip to Iowa this year.
