Structure:
3rd plural preterite stem + -se/-ses/-se/-semos/-seis/-sen
Both -ra and -se forms are interchangeable; -se is more formal and literary.
Example:
Esperaba que llegase a tiempo. **Translation:** I hoped she would arrive on time.
