This concert marked Sheeran’s first stage appearance since the tour promoter, Messina Touring Group, dropped the rapper from the remaining U.S. dates. The decision followed Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian remarks and his performance of the protest song "Hind’s Hall" during earlier concerts in New Jersey.

At the beginning of his set, Sheeran apologized to the audience for his mistakes during what he described as a highly difficult week. He openly addressed the conflict, describing the ongoing events in Gaza as catastrophic and unjustifiable. By distancing himself from the role of an activist, Sheeran attempted to reframe his concerts as neutral, safe spaces. Furthermore, the Irish folk group Beoga withdrew from the tour, forcing Sheeran to secure replacement musicians on short notice. He expressed deep gratitude to these new artists for agreeing to perform with him despite the intense public scrutiny. Meanwhile, Messina Touring Group defended the lineup change, noting that several venues had threatened to cancel shows, which would have affected hundreds of thousands of ticket holders.
