Late-Night Hosts Mock Trump's Dallas Convention

Late-night TV hosts talked about Donald Trump's new meeting in Dallas, Texas. Trump wanted a special "midterm convention" for the Republican National Committee. This meeting never happened before because there was no reason. However, the party did what Trump wanted.

The big arena was not full. In fact, many seats were empty. Trump spent the night before on social media. He wrote that the place was full. On stage, he told the crowd that the place was packed. He even asked people not to go to the bathroom. He did not want the media to take photos of empty seats.

Jimmy Kimmel laughed at this on his television show. He showed a video of the half-empty arena. Kimmel said, "That arena was as empty as a Waymo." A Waymo is a car with no driver. He laughed because Trump bragged about crowd size to empty seats.

During his long speech, Trump made a big promise. He promised to send five thousand dollars to every adult US citizen. This will only happen if the Republicans win the big vote in November. Kimmel called this a "libe" because it is a lie and a bribe. He said this plan will add a lot of debt to the country. The country will have to pay it back with more taxes.

Michael Kosta also talked about the money on The Daily Show. He called it a bribe. Kosta said the United States already has negative forty trillion dollars. So, the country cannot give out dividends. Even Brian Kilmeade from Fox and Friends was confused. However, he said the idea was fun.
