Storm Causes Problems in the Northeast

A powerful storm hit the north-eastern part of the United States this weekend. People call this type of storm a nor'easter. It brought heavy rain and strong winds to cities like New York and Boston. Millions of people lived in the path of this bad weather. Officials in New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency because the situation was dangerous.

In Brooklyn, New York, a man died after a tree fell on him. The man was Leighton Brown, who was 56 years old. He worked for the city and was walking to work when the accident happened. Many people were very sad about his death. He was a good worker and a kind person.

The storm caused many problems for houses and travel. More than 160,000 homes lost electricity. People had no power in their houses. Also, travel was very difficult. Airlines cancelled more than 1,000 flights, and they delayed thousands more. The weather made it impossible for many people to go where they wanted.
