NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged residents to prioritize their safety, explicitly advising them not to travel unless necessary and to avoid walking or driving through floodwater.

Public events were not spared from the storm's impact. Several high-profile gatherings were cancelled, including a Red Sox game, a professional football match, and the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. Additionally, an Ed Sheeran concert at Gillette Stadium was called off for safety reasons. As the region grapples with the aftermath, the priority remains the safety of residents and the restoration of essential services. The storm serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of coastal infrastructure to extreme weather events, particularly when combined with tidal conditions.
