Macklemore Pledges His $1M Concert Earnings to Palestinian Aid

The famous American rapper Macklemore has announced that he will donate his entire salary of one million dollars to help Palestinian people. He earned this money as the opening performer on Ed Sheeran’s recent musical tour. However, tour organizers recently removed the rapper from the shows after he made public statements on stage in support of Palestine.

Following his removal, Macklemore shared a message on social media. In his post, he explained his decision to give all his earnings to six different charity groups. He also challenged Robert Kraft, the wealthy owner of the New England Patriots football team, to match his donation. Kraft, who is a strong supporter of Israel, had previously refused to let the rapper perform at his sports stadium near Boston. Macklemore wrote that they should agree that Palestinian lives are worth protecting.

In response to this public challenge, Kraft released a statement of his own. He announced that Sheeran had called him to discuss the situation. As a result, they have committed to giving two million dollars to help people in the region. Kraft stated that he wants to build bridges between people during this difficult humanitarian crisis.

The situation began when Macklemore spoke to the crowd during a concert in New Jersey, where he called for a free Palestine. After some groups protested, Sheeran decided to remove him from the tour. Sheeran explained that he prefers to remain neutral, but several stadium owners warned him that they would not host his concerts if Macklemore remained on the stage. Soon after the rapper left, the other four opening acts also decided to quit the tour to show their solidarity.
