Macklemore Donates $1 Million Tour Salary After Being Dropped

Rapper Macklemore will not perform on Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour anymore. Ed Sheeran dropped him after the rapper spoke in support of Palestine on stage.

During a concert in New Jersey, Macklemore said he wanted a free Palestine. He also spoke to Jewish people in the audience the next day. He said his message was only about peace and love. He did not want to criticize them.

However, many people did not like his words. A group with the name Israeli-American Council started a petition to remove him. Also, a billionaire named Robert Kraft refused to let Macklemore play at his stadium near Boston. Kraft is a big donor to Israel. Because of this, Ed Sheeran decided to remove Macklemore. Sheeran explained that he wanted to stay neutral.

After this decision, Macklemore made a big announcement. He decided to donate his entire tour salary of one million dollars. He will give this money to six organizations. These groups work directly to help Palestinian people in Gaza.

Macklemore also challenged Robert Kraft on Instagram. He asked the billionaire to match his donation. Kraft then answered with a statement. He said that Ed Sheeran called him. Together, Kraft and Sheeran will give two million dollars to help the region. Kraft did not name the specific charities.

Finally, the other opening acts on the tour decided to leave too. Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Beoga, and Lukas Graham all quit the tour. They did this to support Macklemore and Palestine. Macklemore wrote that he wanted to help families, doctors, and aid workers. They work in very difficult conditions.
